• It does not visit your site. It builds the addresses from the pattern you picked, so it cannot tell you whether any of them exist. A set of hreflang tags only counts when every address in it is a real, working page and each of those pages carries the same set back — a missing or one-way entry makes search engines drop the set.
• It does not translate anything. These tags say where each language lives. Something still has to put the translated text, title, meta description and slug at those addresses.
• It does one page at a time. A fifty-page site means doing this fifty times, and then keeping it in step every time a URL changes.
